Hawaii Dining

When in Hawaii you must try some of the authentic Hawaiian cuisine, with a decidedly different flavoring. Here are a couple of have to try picks for your trip to the Big Island.

Brown’s Beach House at Fairmont Orchid

Quite possibly one of the most expensive restaurants in Hawaii, this plush waterfront wonderland is definitely worth it. Boasting a menu that is decidedly advanced for a normally traditional island, exceptional service and breathtaking scenery, you will definitely remember your trip here (It won’t be because of the bill either). You can also tantalize your olfactory sense with enchanting Hawaiian melodies played by local musicians outside on the grass.

Puhuia

This restaurant has to be one of the most interesting in the entire island. Anchored by a huge 9 foot by 4 foot aquarium that resonates a lovely ambiance and light throughout the entire restaurant. Not to be outdone by the ambiance the menu is decidedly ambitious complete with sashimi, sushi, and many other tasty asian influenced plates. Make sure to go there for breakfast as many of those dishes are absolutely other worldly. Try the ricotta pancakes!

Bubba Gump Shrimp

One of the funniest names for a restaurant, yes this is the Forrest Gump inspired restaurant chain of the same name. Once you get over that fact you will find that the largest patio on the island has a wonderful ocean front view as well as delicatessens that are very good.

Café Pesto

Looking for a local microbrewery in Hawaii? Café Pesto is your place. A lively atmosphere and a very exotic menu make this a local favorite. Located conveniently in the town of Kawaihae (It also has a sister restaurant in Hilo). A full service bar and exceptional service makes this restaurant a top choice for your evening dining.
